Hi there! My
name is Darren Burleson. Several years ago,
I was going
on a vacation and like many
folks, carefully selected a kennel to care
for my family of beloved Jack Russell
Terriers. The kennel I chose was recommended by a friend, and had a good
reputation. Although I felt a bit
uncomfortable as I laid their beds in a
cement and chain link dog run and listened
to the incessant barking of the other dogs,
I assumed they would quickly adjust to their
new surroundings and be fine.
When I arrived
home I immediately went to pick up "the
kids". I found them dirty, anxious, and
hoarse from nonstop barking. In addition,
one of them
had scratches around her eyes
and mouth that required veterinary
attention. They all needed baths and then
slept for two days. I decided then and there
that my dogs would never go to a kennel
again! I’d rather let my dogs stay
at home
where they’re comfortable. And if I was
willing to pay for that peace of mind,
others would too. With that idea and my
lifelong love
of animals
The Pawfessionals Dog Walkers &
Pet Sitters was born.
Now, I’m not
saying all kennels are terrible — I know
there are good ones
and many, many people in
the business who really love and care for
pets. But the best kennels tend to be very
expensive — and still can’t provide
the same
comfort as pets staying in their own
familiar surroundings with
their routines
uninterrupted. After 10 years in business
I’ve heard and continue to hear how clients’
pets are so relaxed and happy when they
arrive home. And that is the goal of The
Pawfessionals. |
